Klondaroo

A Tiny Festival for Friends

October 22–25, 2026 · Klondike Park · Augusta, MO

Welcome to Klondaroo

Music, food, and drinks around a campfire. Sunsets on the bluff overlooking the Missouri River. Moonlit walks on white-sand beaches. Peak fall color everywhere you look.

A camping weekend for people who don't camp — with amazing fall weather, indoor plumbing, our own little corner of the park, and a host who may be taking the festival theme a little too seriously.

Why Klondike? A former silica sand quarry turned hidden gem, with white sandstone cliffs, a quarry lake ringed by white beaches, bluff overlooks above the Missouri River Valley, and trails connecting it all.

Why this weekend? Peak fall color during the day, a full moon lighting up the white beaches and cliffs at night, and — critically — the indoor bathrooms are still open before the park's seasonal closure. Cool enough for a real campfire, comfortable enough to hang outside all day.

And what makes this a festival instead of just a camping trip? Other than giving Alex an excuse to live out his dreams, we've got a giant communal fire, a sound system, lights, a kitchen setup, Friday and Saturday communal dinners, and a few small surprises.

When, Where & How

Everything you need to know to get here, get settled, and know what you're chipping in for.

📅 When

Thursday, Oct 22 – Sunday, Oct 25, 2026. Thursday is optional early-arrival. Roll in Thursday if you want the extra night, or show up Friday for the first communal dinner. No communal dinner is planned Thursday.

📍 Where

Klondike Park, 4600 Highway 94 South, Augusta, MO 63332. About 35 miles west of St. Louis. From I-64/Hwy 40, take Exit 10 and head west on Highway 94 for ~14 miles. Entrance is on the left. Look for our signs once inside.

💰 Lodging

Tent camping: $10 per tent for Friday + Saturday. Add Thursday for $5. Max 3 people per tent.

Cabins: $130 per cabin for Friday + Saturday. Add Thursday for $65. Cabins sleep up to 6 people.

Both options have a 2-night minimum.

Tent spots are limited. If you're sharing a tent, RSVP together. First to RSVP gets first pick of remaining tent spots.

🚽 Indoor Bathroom + Camp Kitchen

There are flush toilets and sinks near camp, plus a camp kitchen with outlets. Warm showers are available too, if anyone gets ambitious.

🍽️ Food, Firewood & BYOB

Friday and Saturday communal dinners are split by dinner headcount. Expect roughly $10–$15 per adult per dinner. Drinks are BYOB. Bring whatever breakfast, lunch, snacks, desserts, and drinks you want. Arriving Thursday? Bring your own dinner that night.

Firewood is split across overnight adults. Expect roughly $10–$20 per adult depending on final headcount.

Day guests have no lodging cost — just chip in for dinner if you're eating with the group.

👶 Kids & Dogs

Kids and dogs are welcome, but dogs are not allowed in cabins. Cabins are especially helpful for people bringing babies/kids or people who do not want to sleep in a tent.

🌡️ Weather

Late October in Missouri: highs 58–65°F, lows mid-40s. Bring layers, a warm sleeping bag, and rain gear just in case. Sunset is around 6:00 PM — perfect timing for the bluff hike.

Yes, this is the easy version

If you've never camped, you're in the right spot. Klondaroo is about as glamorous and low-bar as camping gets.

The only truly rustic part is sleeping in a tent. Everything else: indoor plumbing, a camp kitchen, communal dinners, a giant fire at Base Camp, scenic lake, full moon, real cell service.

So if your hesitation is "I don't have any of the gear" or "I don't really know what I'm doing" — we can fix both of those. Read on.

Option 1

Borrow gear, free, from a local nonprofit

St. Louis–based River City Outdoors runs a free gear-loan library. Tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, camp stoves, lanterns — all of it, no cost. You sign up online, reserve what you need, pick it up before the weekend, return it after.

Browse the gear library →

Option 2

Skip the tent — coordinate a cabin

Klondike Park has 6 primitive camping cabins on site. Each one sleeps up to six: 6 twin beds, ceiling fan, lights, and an electrical outlet — no heat or AC.

Interested in a cabin? Reach out to Alex.

  • Cabins have a 2-night minimum: $130 per cabin for Friday + Saturday. Add Thursday for $65.
  • Cabins sleep up to 6 people and are especially helpful for people bringing babies/kids or people who do not want to sleep in a tent.
  • No dogs in the cabins — park rule. Bringing a pup? You'll want a tent site.
  • Cabins are still rustic — bring your own linens, sleeping bags or sheets, and pillows.

If gear is the only thing stopping you, ask. Don't let that be the reason you skip Klondaroo.

See someone missing from the bill? If there's someone you'd like to invite, let Alex know — guests-of-guests are welcome with a heads-up.

What to Expect

No rigid schedule — just the moments we're building the weekend around.

Thursday

Early Arrivals & Setup

Roll in any time Thursday afternoon onward. We'll be on-site building Base Camp, setting up sites, and easing into the weekend.

Friday Evening

Opening Night Dinner

First communal dinner at Base Camp. Tents go up, the fire gets lit, the speaker comes on. The weekend officially begins.

Saturday · Golden Hour

Bluff Hike + Group Photo

We walk up together for the view — Missouri River Valley lit up at sunset, and one proper group shot while the light is right. Easy hike. Worth it.

Saturday Night

Saturday Main Event

The big one. Communal dinner at Base Camp, music, lights, the fire going huge, everyone in one place. A few small surprises.

Saturday · Midnight

Moonlight Lake Walk

We walk the beach under a full moon — the white sand and cliffs glow silver. This is why we picked this weekend.

Around all of it: hammock naps, lake fishing, games at Base Camp, hikes around the park, and long stretches of doing absolutely nothing. The schedule is just the highlights — the in-between is up to you.
